Week of June 19, 2006
Not too good of a week to report for Laura, sorry! She spent the larger portion of the week dealing with either the flu or stomach issues. Whatever you call it, it is difficult to witness and tough on her poor system. We have made a family decision, at this point, to put an end to the “drug therapy.” In the beginning, it was our belief the potential benefits would outweigh any possible side effects. The results over the past several weeks have proven otherwise. Bringing on unnecessary suffering and allowing Laura to continually display these side effects is simply unacceptable for us. Pray for other reasonable options to become available and for a much-anticipated breakthrough.
Thank you deeply from our entire family regarding the interest in Laura’s 5K run. The pace has really picked up. We are getting up to 20-30 people registering per day with three weeks still to go! All of you continue to amaze us. Can’t wait to see many of you. Look for another update later in the week.
Thinking rather hard (what’s new!) about this situation recently. Specifically, thinking about our purpose, our choices, and our opportunity as well as your purpose, your choices, and your opportunity. We made the choice from the beginning to openly and honestly communicate throughout this process without knowing exactly the ultimate outcome. As these days and decision-making becomes more complex, this commitment will not change. Our choice is whether or not to share Laura, and your choice is whether or not to follow Laura. Although not ideal circumstances, there is remarkable opportunity available. The purpose will become clear. God has led the way; this will always be the focus. Laura wouldn’t want it any other way. Open and honest to create positive change! She is in full service, fulfilling a mission.
A GOSSIP GOES AROUND TELLING SECRETS, BUT THOSE WHO ARE TRUSTWORTHY CAN KEEP A CONFIDENCE. (Proverbs 11:13)
We love you,
Jeff and Laura Laughlin
